The Basic Report helps you to determine which 401(k) option provides a more favorable outcome during retirement by illustrating distribution outcomes from a:

  • Pre-tax 401(k) account

  • Pre-tax 401(k) with an after-tax savings account

  • Roth 401(k) account.

Contribution/Distribution Assumptions Contributions to each account for 5 years; distributions start at Social Security retirement (age 65 to 67 dependent on birth year) and end at death (based on gender specific Social Security life expectancy); all compared assuming:

  • A preset decrease in your MTR during retirement

  • No change in your MTR during retirement

  • A preset increase in your MTR during retirement

The Basic Report allows you to specify:

  • Name, Date of Birth, Gender and Compensation

  • Amount currently contributed to a pre-tax 401(k)

  • Current MTR (consider spouse income) Learn more

  • Year you start contributions for comparison
